PARISH PRISON

The East Feliciana Parish Prison capacity is approximately 242. This population is comprised of Parish Pre-trial offenders, Probation and Parole holds, and Department of Correction (D.O.C) offenders.


The mission of the East Feliciana Parish Prison is to maintain proper custody, care, and control of all offenders assigned or detained at the facility. In addition, the staff at the East Feliciana Parish Prison is properly trained according to P.O.S.T. requirements.

PRISON PROGRAMS

The sheriff operates a Transitional Work Program and a Trustee Work Program with D.O.C. offenders. In addition the sheriff, through partnership with DOC, offers multiple other programs to the offenders.  Some of those programs are Hi-set (GED), Discipleship Training, and Re-Entry Programming.

TRANSITIONAL WORK PROGRAM

Transitional Work Program Offenders (formerly known as Work Release) allows offenders to work for employers prior to release from prison. This program allows offenders to be released from prison with some money and prepares for a smooth transition back into society. These offenders are all D.O.C. and approved specifically by D.O.C.

THE TRUSTEE PROGRAM

DOC offenders who meet the requirements are assigned to the Trustee Program to perform important tasks such as janitorial services for parish owned buildings, cleaning, laundry, maintenance issues at the Parish Prison, and servicing vehicles owned by the Sheriff and Police Jury.

VISITATION OF OFFENDERS

Only certain offenders are allowed in person visits. Offenders who are not allowed visitors may visit by video which can be accomplished through equipment provided by the sheriff. All persons coming to the East Feliciana Parish Prison to visit must have and present a valid government issued photo ID or photo ID card.


The Prison is surrounded by an 8 foot fence with razor ribbon. All persons entering the facility are subject to search and are not allowed to bring in handbags or other personal items. The Introduction of Contraband into a penal facility is a violation of Louisiana State Statue RS 14:402, which is a felony. Violators will be prosecuted.
